UltraPoroPerm-500 is a digital system combining the full functionality of the UltraK-500+ and UltraPore-300 systems in a convenient package for plug size and full diameter core samples. The UltraPoroPerm-500 utilizes advanced precision flow measurement technology and a differential pressure transducer array to bring steady-state gas flow and pore volume measurements to a new level of sophistication. Both porosity and permeability can be measured in the included panel assembly with quick-release hydrostatic core holder. The core holder is fully customizable to accommodate your desired sample dimensions.
Combining automated data acquisition with a real time graphical interface, the accuracy and the precision of measurements is enhanced. Visual color changes in the pressure and flow rate displays alert the operator to data being collected in either the bottom 5% or the top 5% of the relevant device’s operating range. The software guides the operator to set the most suitable flow rate and pressure combination for the measurement. Thereby, the laminar flow regime required for the application of Darcy’s Law is met. Criteria derived from Section 6.8 of the American Petroleum Institute’s “Recommended Practice for Core Analysis” is used to determine the transition from laminar flow to turbulent flow within the core sample.
Data files are stored in HTML format allowing seamless importation into databases and spreadsheets such as Access and Excel. The UltraPoroPerm-500 is compatible with both ambient and reservoir stress determinations using existing core holders.
