Hotel Accommodations

NEW- Please read carefully. All students must contact the Wildwood Lodge at (262)506-2000 or 1-888-506-2005 to make their room reservation for the dates they are attending class. Be sure to mention CFR Engine Inc. to obtain the special rate of $97.00 per night. CFR and its distributors will not make room reservations for students. In addition, the cutoff date for which students can obtain the special rate at the Wildwood Lodge must be within 30 days of the classes listed below. Students who do not make reservations within 30 days of the class are subject to standard pricing from the hotel and will not qualify for the special rate of $97.00 a night. Enrollment for all CFR classes will be need to be made to CFR within 30 days of the class.

Registration and Cancellations

  • All registration for 2019 CFR classes should be conducted through Core Laboratories Refinery Systems an authorized distributor for the necessary quotation. Please make sure you are contacting your official distributor based on your location.
  • The fee covers 4.5 days of instruction, all supplemental training materials, final exam and lunch each day of the class. This fee does not cover travel and living expenses, which are the sole responsibility of the student.
  • Reservations must be cancelled, in writing, at least 60 days prior to start date of the class session, or payment for the class will be due in full.
  • A minimum of five (5) students will be required to hold a class, however CFR may make exceptions to either hold the class or move enrollment to next available class or cancel. Upon notification of cancellation, students will have the choice of withdrawing from the class or being rescheduled to the next available class of their choice. Substitutions, if available, will be accepted. Enrollment for each class will be reviewed 60 days prior to the scheduled start date.

General Overview for Training Schedule at CFR Engines INC.

  • All classes are given at the new CFR facility in Pewaukee Wisconsin. The classroom contains two fully functional engines (Octane and Cetane) for operational training as well as a wide array of tools and components for maintenance and operational training.
  • Extensive hands-on experience will be provided to all students in each of the classes. Students are encouraged to actively participate in the course and ask questions to promote a better understanding of the material.
  • Each student will receive supplemental training materials for use during the class and to take back to the workplace. These include the latest version of all CFR-related ASTM test methods, CFR training class material, associated CFR Operations and Maintenance Manual, CFR Tool Catalog and Waukesha CFR product brochures.
  • Students will be given a test at the end of each class attended. All students will earn "Attended" status with completion of the class and or test for the class. Students will be required to complete the examinations at the end of each class without use of materials, basic notes or assistance from others.

NOTE: “Attended certification” does not provide individuals factory authorization to perform maintenance, warranty or service outside of their immediate company or allow representation of CFR Engines Inc. in anyway. "Factory Certification" can only be obtained through a CFR distributorship with CFR Engines Inc. CFR distributors are the only factory supported entities to provide Genuine CFR service, maintenance and warranty.

  • Each class starts on Monday and is scheduled for 4.5 days with Friday being a half day for the test. Monday through Thursday, classes start at 8:30 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m. On Friday, classes start at 8:30 and students will be returned to the hotel by 12:00 noon or earlier depending on the time needed for the test. The student’s travel plans should be arranged to accommodate this schedule.

MANDATORY: All students are required to wear safety glasses with side shields and safety shoes during hands-on training. We encourage them to bring their own personal safety equipment for comfort and convenience. Shorts, sandals and open toe footwear will NOT be permitted. Appropriate casual attire is required. NOMEX and/or fire retardant clothing is NOT required.

Overview of Class Offerings

XCP Octane Operation – This class is designed for lab personnel who need knowledge of the basic function and operation of the CFR Octane Rating Units that utilize the new XCP panel technology and a better understanding of the ASTM Research and Motor test methods.

Octane Maintenance – This class is designed for CFR personnel who need further knowledge of, and experience with, overhaul of the CFR Octane Rating Unit cylinder, clamping sleeve, and carburetor. Prerequisite: Students taking this class should already have taken Octane Operation or should have some knowledge of the operation of the CFR Octane Rating Unit according to the most current ASTM Methods D2699 and D2700.

Cetane Operation – This class is designed for CFR personnel who need additional knowledge of the basic function and operation of the CFR Cetane Rating Unit and information on the latest D613 test method.

Cetane Maintenance – This class is designed for CFR personnel who need knowledge and experience concerning the top-end overhaul. Prerequisite: Students taking this class should already have taken Cetane Operation or should have some knowledge of the operation of the F5 Cetane Diesel Rating Unit according to the most current ASTM Method D613.

Crankcase Overhaul and Maintenance – This class is designed for more experienced CFR maintenance personnel, who need additional knowledge and understanding of the requirements for complete overhauling a CFR-48 crankcase. Prerequisite: Students taking this class should already have taken both an Operation and Maintenance course for any of the CFR units respectively. In addition, it is highly recommended that students also have some basic knowledge and understanding of micrometers and precision measurement tools for this course.
